JEE Advanced 2018 Cut off Marks for IITs & ISM

JEE Advanced Cutoff Marks 2018 for IITs & ISM : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), IIT Guahati has successfully conducted the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2018 examination i.e., on 21st May 2018 at 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Paper 1 & 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Paper 2. JEE Adv 2018 Exam held various prearranged examination centres in all across India. Nearly two lakh candidates had cleared the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main-2018 to appear for JEE (Advanced). The results of JEE Advanced were declared by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on the month of June. 1,98,228 candidates had cleared the JEE (Main) examination which was held both online and offline in 132 cities. Nearly 12 lakh candidates had taken this exam of which 19,820 have qualified for the JEE (Advanced) Online while 1,78,408 candidates have qualified for the JEE (Advanced) offline test.

This Year, Total 155158 students appeared in JEE Advance 2018, 18138 students have qualified the JEE advanced. 11,279 seats are on offer at 23 IITs across the country.

The number of candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced on basis of JEE Main are as follows year-wise.

  • 2017 – 2,20,000
  • 2016 – 2,00,000

As can be seen, the number of candidates who are selected on basis of JEE Main to appear in JEE Advanced has been steadily increasing over the years. This has in turn led to a dip in cut off.

JEE Advanced Cutoff 2018– The Cutoff  of JEE Advanced 2018 is the minimum marks that a candidate has to score for being eligible to get admission to the undergraduate level engineering courses at IITs and ISM Dhanbad. The Cutoff has been published by IIT Guwahati- the conducting IIT for JEE Advanced 2018. There is an aggregate and subject wise cutoff in JEE Advanced, so for qualifying, every candidate has to score the subject-wise and aggregate qualifying marks in the exam to get listed in rank list of JEE Advanced 2018. The above given cutoff has been announced by IIT madras in the information brochure. Candidates must note that this is the cutoff that will be used to ascertain whether a student has qualified in the JE EAdvanced to be included in the All India Rank List for 2018. It is also to be noted that for the common counselling the JEE Advanced Cutoff varies and is much lower than the above given one

IIT Madras, the exam conducting body has released JEE Advanced cut off 2017 marks category wise. Based on these marks candidates were shortlisted for the counselling process to get admission in their dream colleges.

JEE Advanced Cut Off 2017 for PWD Category

PWD stands for the person with disability. Candidates who secure marks less than JEE Advanced 2017 Cut off were not allowed to take part in the counselling process. PWD candidates cannot take the admission in the courses like mining, geophysics, mechanical etc. even if they secure more than cut off marks in JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced 2018 Cutoff

  • Only the candidates, who will score above the Cutoff, will be considered for the admission in IITs through JEE Advanced 2018.
  • Candidates must note that the JEE Advanced 2018 Cutoff is decided on the basis of various factors like total number of seats available, total number of qualified candidates, etc.
  • JEE Advanced 2018 Cutoff will help the candidates to know their chances of getting shortlisted for admission to IITs and ISM Dhanbad.

Only candidates, who score the minimum prescribed marks in each subject and in aggregate, will be included in the rank list. The minimum prescribed marks varies with the category. These are as shown in the following table-

Qualifying Criteria for JEE (Advanced) 2018

JEE Advanced Cutoff & Qualifying Criteria: The total marks obtained in Mathematics will be the marks awarded for Mathematics in Paper 1 and Paper 2. The total marks obtained in Physics and Chemistry will also be calculated in the same way. The aggregate marks will be calculated as the sum of the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Candidates have to satisfy the subject-wise as well as the aggregate qualifying marks to be included in a rank list.

Maximum aggregate marks: 372 (186 each in Paper-1 and Paper-2)

Maximum marks in Physics: 124 (62 each in Paper-1 and Paper-2)

JEE Advanced 2018 Summary

According to IIT official data, as many as 1.98 lakh candidates qualified for JEE Advanced 2018, while a total of 1,55,948 candidates have registered for it, out of which 1,47,678 have appeared in the national level engineering entrance examination for IIT admissions.

The IITs announced the JEE (Advanced) results on Sunday morning as per their schedule. In all, 36,566 of the 1.47 lakh aspirants, who appeared for the test held on May 22, have qualified in the examination. Of the students who qualified, 4,570 are girls.

From the IIT-Bombay zone, 8,810 students qualified, highest among the seven zones, followed by 6,702 from IIT-Madras zone, and 5,941 from the IIT-Delhi zone. This year, with the addition of four new IITs, the total number of seats has gone up to 10,575 from last year’s 10,006.

With the addition of 4 new IITs – IIT Chhattisgarh, IIT Goa, IIT Jammu and IIT Karnataka from the academic year 2018-17, seat intake for undergraduate engineering programmes at IITs has gone up from 10,006 last year to 10,575 this year. As these 4 new IITs will become functional this year, the total number of IITs is 23 (including ISM) now.
